Raquel Lee took to TikTok on April 10, 2024, to call out the producers and directors of the docu-series Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV. It details behind-the-scenes narratives, negative experiences of child actors, and alleged inappropriate behaviors toward them.
In her TikTok video, she slammed the showrunners for how they executed the series’ final installment. It was initially set to become a four-part series before they added the fifth part. It included a panel conversation for an Emmys FYC event, including Giovonnie Samuels, Bryan Hearne, and Drake Bell.
As Bolleau claims, the showrunner didn’t even think of inviting her to the panel, let alone approaching her with an invitation. She accused them of doing the same thing the industry always did: “They get what they want from you, and then they’re done.”
Even if Raquel didn’t address racism as the main factor for such treatment, her mother, Pamela, did point out a subtle hint during her interview with Today after the video went viral.
She recalled (from the time of The Amanda Show in 1999) that her daughter said that the show creator Dan Schneider favored Drake Bell and Amanda Bynes over her.
