Tania Sachdev’s Married Life: Still Together With Her Husband?
Sachdev, the three-time Commonwealth Women’s Chess Champion, seemingly is not together with her husband, Viraj Katria, an architect. Probably, they are now divorced.
She married Delhilite Viraj in November 2014 in Chattrapur, Delhi, in a close-knit affair.
According to Times Of India, the couple tied the knot in two different wedding ceremonies- first, they wed in Anand Karaj (since Tania is Sikh) and then in Vedic traditional Hindu norm (since Viraj is Hindu).
Speaking of her wedding that lasted three days then, Sachdev’s parents said,
“The wedding functions have been on for the past three days, and it’s been a long, tiring wedding. However, we are finally at peace, seeing our daughter happily married. It was an emotionally exhausting time for both of us, but thankfully, all went well.”
According to online sources, Tania’s parents and Viraj’s are family friends. The two met at the former’s mother’s birthday party and became friends, which turned into romance. After dating for a year, Katraia proposed to Sachdev, followed by a wedding in no time.

Coming to 2024, nearly a decade after Tania and Viraj’s marriage, things went downhill between the two, and they divorced somewhere in between.
Neither of Tania’s Instagram posts hints that she ever got married or has a husband; the same goes for Viraj, who runs his architect firm, Viraj Kataria Architects (2010- present). He is famous for restoring a 133-year-old dilapidated structure in Kala Ghoda in 2023.

Even if the two didn’t publicly admitted being a relationship, Raina hinted that his girlfriend was a chess player in several occasions.
During a Gotham City Podcast by Levy Rozman, Samay revealed that he was dating a girl older than him. Probably, it rang bells in audiences as he (born on October 26, 1997) is nearly 11 years younger than Tania (born on August 20, 1986).
In October 2021, the YouTuber made a video about a girlfriend reveal but only featured that person in purple pants and black boots. According to fans, Tania also wore the same boots.

When she was six, Sachdev was fascinated with chess after her mother, Anju, introduced her to the game.
While concurrently studying at Modern School, Tania competed in junior chess events and earned accolades like U-12 Indian Champion a bronze medal in World Under-12 Championship in 1998 and Asian U14 Junior Champion in 2000.
In 2002, the FIDE gave her the title of Woman International Master (WIM). At 15, she earned the Woman Grandmaster (WGM) title in 2005.
She became a two-time National Women’s Premier Chess Champion in the following years, with consecutive victories in 2006 and 2007. Also, Tania became the 2007 Asian Chess Championship winner with six wins and a draw in nine rounds.
In 2008, the FIDE honored her with the International Master title. A year later, in 2009, she received the Arjuna Award, India’s highest sporting honor.
She has represented the Indian national team in the Women’s Chess Olympiads, the Women’s World Team Chess Championship, and the Women’s Asian Team Chess Championship.
