Keymer attended Nieder-Olm High School, where he graduated in his early 20s. Shortly before his graduation, the FIDE granted him the title “Grandmaster.”

In 2022, he took the Abitur exams, though further updates about his academics are under wraps.
How Vincent Keymer Got Into Chess?
Keymer was only five when he found a chessboard in their home. He approached his parents one morning and asked them to teach him to play. Since his family came from a music background, they taught the basics to him, and it only took him a few months to learn.
“My parents knew the rules, you know, how to make moves. And I think I must have liked it.”
Vincent admired chess so much that he wanted to explore it. Since his village didn’t have a chess club, he used to travel 15 or 20 km to a nearby village to play chess.
At six, he won the German U10 Championship and scored his second feat in 2014 at 9 (this time with a 100% score). Not only did it attract attention to his gameplay, but it also qualified him for the U-18 national team.
In September 2015, the German chess magazine Schach Magazin featured the then-10-year-old Keymer on its cover. At that time, he had already won against three grandmasters.
The magazine touted him as Germany’s most incredible talent- a prospect to assume the #1 rank since Emanuel Lasker, the world champion from 1894 to 1921.

In the 2018 Grenke Chess Open, Keymer won the tournament with 8/9 points ahead of 49 grandmasters; it also included four GMs with Elo ratings above 2700. As a result, he earned his first norm for the title of “Grandmaster.”
Four months later, in the Xtracon Open, he secured his second GM norm, followed by a third norm in the 2019 FIDE Grand Swiss Tournament. Thus, Vincent (then aged 14) became the youngest German grandmaster.
It saw progression in his rating and career finishes; he finished 5th in the 2021 FIDE Grand Swiss tournament.
