Even though Disu’s biological parents are separated, his stepfather has been no less to be his supportive pillar throughout these years. He grew up in Texas with four siblings (three sisters and a brother) who are sports enthusiasts.

Born on November 12, 2000, Dylan is the son of Michelle Anderson (nee Schlenker), but details about his biological father are unavailable. There are claims that Disu’s parents divorced when he was young.

So, his mother remarried and lives with her second husband, Rodney Anderson (Dylan’s stepfather), in Austin, Texas. Disu’s stepdad took him under his wing, and their well-connected bonding makes anyone believe they are a biological father-son duo.

The basketball player’s mom’s Facebook profile features pictures with Rodney from the late 2000s, so they might have been together since then. They often go to Dylan’s game and cheer for him.

During his freshman and sophomore at Vanderbilt University in Iowa, his parents could not regularly go to see him play. However, his grandma, cousins, and uncle usually came during his game. He was grateful and happy seeing his family come and support him from the stands.

Dylan Disu’s father (stepdad), Rodney, is a veteran police officer with over 30 years of service. Before law enforcement, Rodney was in the building trade, doing commercial and residential work.

Mr. Anderson also has experience in home building, light plumbing, and electrical. He provides handyman services for several commercial developers, which include limited property clean-up and repairing windows and doors.

During Dylan’s childhood, Michelle was very strict with her son. Her son hated her when she taught him to shoot the basketball. His half-sisters, Meg and Madi (twins), and younger brother, Aiden, are from his paternal side—his biological dad’s relationship with Jennifer Gardner Price. Now, Jennifer is married to Nicholas Price.

Dylan and his three younger siblings were raised in Austin, Texas. When growing up, Dylan spent summers and holidays in Iowa, riding ponies and spending time on his uncle’s farm.

Dylan’s step-sister, Breonna, graduated from Texas A&M University in 2021 with a degree in Animal Science and Poultry Science. She has had a variety of work experiences. Her LinkedIn profile shows she is a marketing intern at Austin Gamblers (April 2024—present).

Before graduation, she worked part-time as a waitstaff & florist at Villa St. Clair (2016-21) and as a manager/bartender at Libation Station (2020- 2022). Then, she worked at Fraction, Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Lab, Inspire Solar, and The Animal Hospital At Steiner Ranch.

The emerging NBA small forward has two paternal younger sisters, Meg and Madi Disu (twins), who are volleyball enthusiasts. They were born on March 22, 2005.

Meg and Madi both play for the Rhode Island University volleyball team. They are both 6 feet (1.82 m) tall and play the same position: outside hitter. The two sisters played volleyball at Jack C. Hays High School, where they graduated on May 31, 2023.

Disu’s younger half-brother, Aiden, was born on October 24, 2006, from his father’s relationship with Jennifer Gardner. Aiden is a basketball player at St. Michael’s Catholic (class of 2025).

Already a three-star recruit, the 6 feet 7 inches tall power forward took inspiration from his brother, Dylan, and hopes to make a professional basketball route. He is Dylan’s biggest supporter and used to train with him while the NBA prospect was in school.

Basketball Journey Of Dylan, A 2024 NBA Draft Prospect

Dylan, a Hendrickson High School product, became a two-time district Most Valuable Player while leading his school to back-to-back District 13-6A titles as a junior and senior.

He then went to Vanderbilt as a freshman and had a decent start. As a freshman, Disu played in 32 games and averaged 7.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.

During his sophomore year, he started in 17 games and received the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. He also led the Southeastern Conference in rebounding and blocked shots.

He then moved back to Texas as a Junior and played in 26 games. However, he missed the first eight games due to his left knee injury, which he suffered during his last year at Vanderbilt. Later, when he returned, he reached double figures four times.

In his last season, he started in 36 of 38 team games. Dylan has exceeded all the expectations of his family and friends. He has vastly improved his performance.


A BA in Human Dimensions of Organizations graduate, Dylan Disu is a prospect in the 2024 NBA draft. Basketball analysts assume that Disu could be a second-round pick in the NBA draft.
