Keilar Is Married Twice: Husband Is A Retired US Army Colonel
Brianna, one-time divorcee, lives in Washington D.C. with her current (second) husband, Fernando Lujan. Born in 1977, Lujan, 47 Years, is a US Army colonel who retired after 25 years of service in August 2023.
Fernando, a former U.S. Army Special Forces officer, and Foreign Area specialist, served as the Director for Afghanistan (2014-16) and then as Senior Director for South Asia (January 2017- June 2017) in the National Security Council.
From September 2018 to July 2020, he was a senior advisor at U.S. Department of State. Afterward, he became an assistant professor at National War College (July 2021- August 2023).
Aside from his duty, the US veteran has notable academic achievements. A 1994 graduate of Churchill High School, Lujan obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from United States Military Academy at West Point in 1998.
In 2008, he completed master’s in Public Policy, International Security and Political Economy from Harvard Kennedy School. Currently, he is a Ph.D. student at The Johns Hopkins University (2020- present).

When Did Brianna and Fernando Marry?
The CNN journalist and her husband, Fernando, married on December 30, 2016, in Las Vegas at a weekend-long New Year’s celebration. In the wedding with 85 guests in attendance, the bride wore a short white gown while Lujan donned his Army Special Forces uniform.
On their fourth wedding anniversary, she dedicated an Instagram post to her spouse, appreciating his efforts and service to the nation,
“Four years. Two deployments. Four houses. Two kiddos. […] This year we are finally a little more settled and celebrating our anniversary for the first time where Fernando isn’t gone or going…”
Their marriage came only after six months of engagement- Fernando proposed to Brianna on a tradition one-knee down pose as they were watching the Independence Day fireworks from their terrace in 2016.
