Fletcher Loyer’s Brother, Foster, Played Collegiate Basketball

Fletcher has an elder brother, Foster Loyer, who was born on June 24, 1999, four years his senior. Given their family history of association with basketball, the elder Loyer brother went from being an NBA ball boy to a high school and college basketball prodigy.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Foster grew up in Clarkston, Michigan, where he attended Clarkston High School and finished with 2,325 career points.

He led Clarkston to two Class A State Championships and was named the 2018 Mr. Basketball of Michigan title.

Foster was a four-star recruit who received a scholarship at Michigan State before he started high school.

They probably saw the potential of the 6-foot (1.83 m) and 175 lbs (79 kg) player, who would score career’s notable 42 points in the semi-final and 40 points in the final of Clarkston’s second-straight Class A championship title.

While in high school, he made 634 free throws, which set a new record, surpassing Dustin Orns’ ten-year-old record of 629 throws.

After high school, Loyer enrolled at Michigan State University and averaged 1.6 points, 0.9 assists, and 0.4 rebounds as a freshman (2018-19). In his sophomore year, he made a season-high 16 points against Western Michigan in 21 minutes of action.

As a junior at MSU Spartans, he captained the team and scored his then-college career-high 20 points before an injury and shoulder surgery cut short his season.

While many were hopeful that Foster could become a notable pick, if not then a late-round pick in the NBA, he went undrafted in the 2023 NBA draft.
