As he was promoted to Colonel, he operated as the Commanding Officer of the 23rd Battalion of the Frontier Force Regiment.

Asim Munir has come to the heat of news recently after he made a speech during a visit to Sialkot Garrison, where he was accused of intimidating to teach a lesson to retired PM Imran Khan and his supporters in the middle of an ongoing crackdown on PTI after the May 9 protests under the Army Act of 1952 via military courts.
